15/01/13 - Presentation and Exam

Since my last blog post I have completed a presentation and my first A Level exam.

On Friday we had to do 15 minutes of teaching in pairs for Psychology.  We did a short presentation and we also did a role playing activity for the class.  I think that overall this went well and helped improve my confidence, it has also helped to work towards one of my short term goals which was to improve my confidence when talking in front of an audience.

This morning I sat my first AS Level exam in Law.  As I said in my previous post, my main weakness is that I find it hard to know which parts of the unit are relevant to the exam question.  The exam today has shown me that this is still my main weakness.  I find it easy to revise and to learn the key points but I find it harder to apply them to the relevant questions - my exam went well but in one question I included some information that wasn't relevant.  This shows that this is an area I need to improve on for future exams and I could do this by practicing as many exam questions/papers as I can before the exam.

13/01/13 - Homework

For the past week I have been making sure that I have recorded all homework into my diary so that I can stay organised whilst doing revision.  I have found it useful as it means that I have been organised with my homework which has made it easier to find time for revision and socialising.

I am going to carry on recording all homework in my diary and try to get into the habit of it.

09/01/13 - Starting a New Term

At the moment I have just started a new term.  I have made some small goals for this half term which will help me to acheieve my short-term goals.
My first goal is to complete all homework set on the same day to help me keep on top of all homework and I would like to carry this on as I think that this will be helpful whilst I am revising for multiple exams in June.
My second target is to record all homework in my diary so that I am organised and do not forget any pieces of homework or get behind.
My next goal is to complete my CV properly and to start thinking about getting a part time job.  I would like to aim overall to get a job in the summer holidays and during next year as this year I want to concerntrate on my AS Levels.
My final goal is to continue revising for my law exam which is on Tuesday.  I will update my blog to say how it went after I have completed the exam.  I think I need to work on my weaknesses when writing essays.  My main weakness is knowing which bits of information apply to which question but my strengths are remembering the information.

09/01/13 - My Presentation

Before the holidays I was working towards my ICT presentation.

I chose to do my presentation about gap years as this is something that interests me and I wanted to find out more about them.
I have used resources such as the internet and magazines about gap years to aid the research for my presentation and I think that I covered most of areas about gap years in my 10 minute presentation.

I decided that the most effective way to deliver my presentation was to write and read a script.  I decided this so that I made sure I covered each topic area in detail but I made sure that I looked up a lot to show confidence and so that I wasn't just reading from the script.

I think that my presentation went well as I talked for the whole 10 minutes and showed a range of skills on my presentation such as putting in and playing an embedded video and using transitions and animations.  I also tried to use a consistent house style and I made sure that I used similar animations throughout to make it appealing.

I could have improved it by having more audience participation to keep the audience engaged and at one point I did lose my place but I got back to where I was quickly so hopefully that will not affect my mark too much.

Below is an example of some of my slides from my presentation.

01/01/13 - PDP Achievements

Since my last post I have been revising for my January exam.  This is working towards my sixth short term goal.  I have been organised with this revision and I have made sure that I do a bit of revision everyday.  When I have completed my law exam- I can start creating some revision cards for my Psychology exams in the summer.
Next term I am going to try and keep on top of all of my homework as I need to be organised for my upcoming exams- this links to my first two short term goals.

My strengths have been organising my time and revising thoroughly and effectively however my weeknesses have been retaining the information until the exam.
Overall, if I want to complete these short term goals, I need to stay organised, keep on top of work and reatain the information.
